   »Delivering community impact: Managing programmes and services that build on University of Auckland research to bring positive impacts to the community in areas such as education, health and informing public policy.
The opportunity:
A paid internship opportunity has arisen to aid and support to our Commercialisation team and Kai?rahi to better incorporate M?tauranga M?ori into our technology development and our start-up and investment programmes across the University campus.
The aim is to develop a Kaupapa M?ori process to support the potential of M?ori knowledge, resources, science, innovation, and people to unlock untold benefits for the environment, for New Zealanders and for global impact. In addition to contribute to developing a truly bi-cultural partnership environment for participants in our programmes with a particular focus on our emerging academics and post-graduate students.

this function can be flexible on days & hours of work to suit the preferred candidate, with a minimum expectation of 4 days a week.
Key Job responsibilities:
   » Review, and assist with providing a M?tauranga M?ori worldview on the initial assessment of idea disclosures and related information for patentcapability and commercial application, including competition and markets.
   » Assess and research the development of technology at initial disclosure (may include speaking with inventors)
   » Assist the Commercialisation team to assess market, competitive landscape, and opportunity for developing a M?ori impact method to investing. Assist with the validation of these assumptions in dialogue with potential M?ori investors and stakeholders.
   » Assist with the identification of M?tauranga M?ori identifying potential commercialisation pathways/licensing partners and business contacts significant to technologies
   » Assist in the development of marketing collateral to increase consciousness, engagement and opportunity for M?ori staff and students to use investing to accelerate impact from Research.
   » Assist with our Intellectual Property Advisors and Kai?rahi in knowledge Wai 262 developments, Te Tiriti ? Waitangi principles, to offer support for interfacing with inventors, patent firms and licensees.
   » Participate in the development and presentation of investment proposals to Return on Science investment committees
   » Provide feedback and suggestions for building a culturally safe, bicultural, inclusive and partnership environment.
Your expertise and practice:
   » A Waipapa Taumata Rau, (UoA) student in any of the following disciplines: Chemistry, Bioscience, Health, Science, Engineering, ICT or Commerce. Other degrees considered.
   » An knowledge of Tikanga M?ori
   » A good level of Te Reo M?ori
   » A good knowledge of Te Tiriti ? Waitangi principles
   » Can relate well with others to understand and influence differing perspectives.
   » Excellent communication expertise.
   » Excellent work ethic, attitude, and enjoys being part of a team.
   » Intellectually curious, an enquiring mind, with a passion for turning ideas into impact

The function will report into a Director of Commercialisation, with a dotted line and support from our Kai?rahi.
