Ko wai maatou? – Who are we?
Te Irirangi o Pare Hauraki (Ngaa Iwi FM) broadcasts in Hauraki across the Coromandel Peninsula and Hauraki Plains with a majority of their shows broadcast in Te Reo Maaori. The station provides a mixture of up-to-date music and classic traditional M?ori music all over their shows. The shows provide information about upcoming hui, key events and the education, sports, arts/festivals and culture grants.
Te aahua o Te Tuurunga – The nature of the position
The General Manager is responsible and accountable for overall management and day-to-day operations of the station. You will develop, implement and review the performance of the organisation against the long-term strategic plan, and you will be responsible for the financial and operational performance ensuring the station adheres to all community broadcast codes of conduct. You will supervise a staff of 4, who are well equipped in what they do and are committed to the kaupapa.
You will supervise the technical broadcast operations, and program content, delivery, format, production values, and schedule and will feel comfortable representing Ng? Iwi FM at public forums and facilitate hui with key stakeholder groups.
Ngaa tino Puukenga – Essential expertise/practices for the function
You will ideally possess:
   » Sound cultural competency, including confidence in the use of te reo me oona tikanga.
   » Excellent communication expertise and strong interpersonal expertise including a demonstrated capability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
   » Previous broadcasting (radio/multimedia) practice.
   » Excellent organisational and time management expertise.
   » Demonstrated finance and business management expertise including budgeting, strategic planning and developing grant applications.
   » High levels of self-motivation be self-confident and self-directing.
   » Excellent interpersonal and relationship building expertise, with the capability to influence and enable others.
   » The practice to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders through trust, advocacy, and collaboration, with expertise in the management of diverse sets of relationships with tact and diplomacy.
You will be committed to developing effective community engagement across the iwi across Paeroa/Waihi/Thames Coromandel, Te Aroha and local Iwi hapuu communities Manaia, Harataunga, Koopuutauaki, Whanagapoua, Wharekaho, Kerepeehi, Wharekawa, Te Puru, Waiomu and help to build a significant web presence, social media, podcasting, multimedia production, and allow for growth of digital area platforms and production.
