The Payroll adjunct Advisor function is a member of the Payroll team, which is located in the Finance Group. The Payroll team delivers a payroll service to all Ministry employees. The Payroll team also provides support and advice to employees and payroll related information to the business and external agencies.

Due to an internal movement, this function has now become available. This is an ideal function for those looking to kick-start a career in Payroll and in HR. This is an entry level function where previous payroll practice is not required as you will be receiving full training. You would be working with a team that is very practiced and is interested to provide coaching to an individual who wishes to learn. This is a great opportunity to be in an environment where you are surrounded by practiced professionals and have the opportunity to lgain about the payroll function as well as HR as a whole.
The prosperous applicant will be responsible for processing changes to employee records including general data changes, new hires and terminations and answering employee pay and leave queries. The Ministry of Education Payroll team processes a high volume of payroll changes each fortnight and the prosperous applicant will be trained to complete changes across the full range of payroll activities.

The environment our team operates in is a very busy one and requires quality time management to navigate effectively. We are seeking for someone who prides themselves on being organised which will allow them to efficiently go about their work. You will be working with a wide variety of stakeholder and therefore high quality communication expertise are vital.
You must be a competent user of Microsoft Office and be a fast and willing learner. You will need to be proactive and be confident in asking questions when you are unsure. To be prosperous in the function you will be eager and willing to learn. This is an opportunity where practice isn’t expected, therefore you should not be afraid to ask questions.
The Payroll team has a strong culture that strives to deliver excellence in customer service and the prosperous applicant would ideally demonstrate those behaviours.
The busy environment best suits a person who works well as part of a team and demonstrates that they are willing to contribute to ensure that the team objectives are met.
