Te Papa Atawhai | Department of Conservation is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, creative and organised Kaitohutohu P?p?ho a Whakap? | Media and Communications Advisor to join the National Media and Communications team.
He angit?tanga: About the function
Reporting to the Team Lead Communications Regional, you will lead and deliver media and communications for the Lower North Island Region, telling their amazing conservation stories. You will also provide media and communications support to a number of national portfolios and projects, with the support of the wider Media and Communications Team. You will be required to quickly identify risks and opportunities, adapt your approach and provide stakeholders with appropriate communications support when required.
This a full time 40 hours a week function located in Wellington.

We are seeking for a flexible self-starter and capable multi-tasker who has strong communication planning and writing skills. You will have a natural capability to tell stories using multiple channels, as well as the capcapability to identify and act on opportunities, engaging with different audiences and proactively seek opportunities.
To be prosperous in this function you will have:
   » practice leading communications and media relations
   » A tertiary qualification in communications, media, public relations or marketing
   » Creative practice telling stories using a range of internal and external communications channels, as well as a proven track record of communicating across a diverse and distributed organisation
   » practice in developing and implementing effective systems to manage critical communications issues and risks
   » capability to quickly understand multiple issues, manage conflicting priorities and operate to a high standard
   » Excellent communicator and collaborator with both internal and external stakeholders
   » practice partnering and engaging with iwi and tangata whenua as well as an knowledge of the implications of the Treaty of Waitangi is highly desirable
