Emerge Aotearoa is seeking Maori cultural experts who can help us strengthen our cultural practice within service delivery. You will use your influence to build the cultural capcapability within our kaimahi and services.
Emerge Aotearoa is a large national social services organisation that delivers services in Health and Disabilities (mental health and addictions), Corrections, Oranga Tamariki, MSD and Housing. We are well placed to influence the wider health, social, justice and community sectors, shape future policies and approaches that affect the people and the sectors that we work in.
The overall cultural responsiveness programme is focused on implementing our Tiriti o Waitangi Framework in operations; and ensuring that Emerge Aotearoa services across the country are supported to deliver a culturally responsive service. This is delivered via a Programme for each region consisting of service plans and cultural activities, as well as advice on how M?ori protocols are applied to each specific region.

About the function
We are recruiting for Cultural Partners M?ori the following regions:
   » Midland (Hamilton, Rotorua, Tauranga, Whakatane) 1 x FTE
The Cultural Partner is a dynamic and varied function, reporting to the National Manager Cultural Responsiveness and sitting within our Cultural Responsiveness team. The Cultural Partner works in the regions and will be part of the regional leadership abilities team as an influencer, to support the development of people and teams to deliver services that are culturally safe, responsive, and inclusive.
The person will use their cultural knowledge to lead the delivery of Maori protocols, and input into the development of tools, policies and processes to ensure that the needs of Maori are reflected and embedded. One of your strengths will be your capability to establish/develop trusting partnerships with key stakeholders both internally and externally including having strong networks within the Maori communities.

We’d like to hear from people who have the following:
   » Five years significant practice, including at least three years’ practice working in a similar coaching and influencing function, developing people and/or services to meet the needs of tangata whaiora
   » Strong evidence of having developed Maori cultural competence of individuals and teams
   » knowledge of the mental health, addictions, housing, disabilities and/or social services sector – ideally will have a practitioner background
   » capability to work autonomously and independently with a strong work ethic
   » High degree of competence in Te Reo and strong application of tikanga – a confident and confident practitioner of Te Reo me ona tikanga
   » Strong evidence of Maori community networks in the region ie. Iwi , hapu and whanau as well as kaupapa Maori organisations and Maori networks
   » Strong evidence of capability to work in collaboration with others to support culturally responsive practice as a solution focused change agent
