Here is a rare opportunity. We are seeking for a new generation Curator, Pacific Histories and Cultures. As Te Papa embarks on a monumental renewal process, you will be the newest member of a hard working team that produces public history in a museum setting, working with national collections and other forms of cultural heritage. You will help tell stories and interpret New Zealand’s past for audiences that are both local and global, real and virtual, and who want to know more about where we have come from and where we are going.
Do you have:
   » a PhD or equivalent practice and expertise in historical or material culture research in relation to Pacific communities in New Zealand and/or internationally
   » a personal record of research and inquiry in your chosen field or speciality
   » practice of working with objects, collections and forms of intangible expertise
   » practice and comfort in communicating in a range of forms and media to diverse audiences
   » familiarity with digital platforms and social media
   » the capability to work in multidisciplinary teams on a range of museological outputs across exhibitions, digital channels, research publications, and public programmes
   » a network of experts, communities and stakeholders you can bring to complement the team’s existing contacts?

The income range for this position is $66,000 to $83,000 with further room for progression through the band. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the expertise and practice offered by the candidate and those required of the function, and internal relativities with other employees.
this function is permanent and full-time (40 hours) and all candidates must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. Prior to Te Papa confirming any offer of employment, pre-employment checks will be undertaken including criminal conviction history and reference checking as a minimum.
