Public Health
   »New full-time, fixed-term position – 40 hours per week
   »located in either Dunedin, Invercargill or Queenstown
   »Fixed until 30.06.2022
About the opportunity
this function will provide cultural liaison support to the Public Health Service with a primary focus on the COVID-19 response and responsible for providing guidance, leadership abilities and support to Public Health Staff to ensure their project work has an equity focus, across the district.
Key focus areas include the following:
   » Building strong relationships with Pacific Health providers and community
   » Advocating timely/appropriate and well-being support for cases, contacts and Pacific fanau
   » Support the COVID-19 response team to deliver culturally appropriate services
   » During a local response, link in with the Public Health Emergency response team to ensure services and needs are being addressed in a timely and appropriate manner
   » To advise and inform the development of processes and procedures that supports continuing engagement with Pacific fanau in contact tracing and case management
   » Provide guidance, support and leadership abilities in developing plans for ensuring timely and appropriate well-being support for cases, contacts and fanua who are Pasifika
   » Develop a culturally appropriate fanau ola approach to our COVID-19 response and to the wider work the Public Health service delivers
   » To be trained in the National Contact Tracing Solution platform for contact tracing and/or case investigation and to support contact tracing when Pacific fanau are involved
About you:
   » practice in working to improve Pacific Health results
   » practice working within Pacific Health, but if not, have real passion and strong links to Pacific communities
   » Proven capability in applying an equity lens over any work being developed
   » Pacific language expertise and confidence to navigate different conversation dynamics
   » Good interpersonal expertise, including capability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization
   » Excellent computing expertise including the capability to use Microsoft products (MSTeams, word, powerpoint, excel)
   » High level of confidentiality and capability to act with discretion and sensitivity at all times
   » Current full driver’s licence (travel across the district may be required)

Covid vaccination requirement
Following the update to COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021, to be employed with Southern DHB you will be required to be fully vaccinated as a health care worker. If you have already been fully vaccinated you will need to provide proof of this to Occupational Health staff. If you are not yet fully vaccinated you must make arrangements to be fully vaccinated, as required by the order, by 1 January 2022.
