University of Otago Education Support Services is part of the University of Otago’s College of Education. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning to achieve equity for all learners. We have a team of highly committed and practiced facilitators located all over the country who draw on current research and effective practice to build educators’ capcapability within kura and schools.
The function
this function presents a unique opportunity to join our M?ori medium team with a key function in providing professional learning and development (PLD) to support Pia to achieve their T?turu Practising Certificates alongside Pou Tautoko and Tumuaki in Kura Kaupapa M?ori, Wharekura and Kura-a-Iwi.
If desired the candidate can also choose to facilitate PLD in M?ori and English-medium schools supporting a system-wide shift in cultural capcapability for primary and secondary school leaders and teachers in Aotearoa.
In this function you will:
   » Support Pia, Pou Tautoko and Tumuaki in their kura and communities with effective pedagogical practice through a variety of responsive delivery methods, including; workshops, hikoi, noho marae, cluster hui, on-line and tailored support kanohi ki te kanohi to meet individual needs as they implement high quality, educative induction and mentoring programmes.
   » Facilitate cultural capcapability PLD in M?ori kura and English medium schools.
this function can be located anywhere in New Zealand. Travel will be required to fulfil the responsibilities of the position.
Your expertise and practice
We are seeking for someone who is passionate about teaching and learning in M?ori settings. Information technology is essential that the prosperous candidate brings a proactive, collaborative approach and is able to work independently and remotely as part of a team.
The prosperous candidate will also have:
   » Fluency in te reo M?ori me ?n? tikanga.
   » Teaching qualification and registration.
   » Demonstrated prosperous teaching practice in Kura Kaupapa M?ori, Wharekura, Kura-a-Iwi and/or schools.
   » practice developing and implementing professional learning development for kaiako/teachers.
   » Driver’s licence and flexibility to travel within NZ to reach remote kura.
