Job description:

Job Description

Survey People/Interviewers
» Looking for weekend work until November 2023 – up to 16 hours per week.
» Live in or close to M?ngere?
» Do you speak a Pacific language?
Excellent people and Pacific language expertise, and known within Pacific communities of M?ngere?
Did you know that in M?ngere Central 10 years again, a huge amount of the local people were driving – even just to do very short trips, within their own suburb. Sadly, this same group who are driving, walking, and cycling were more likely to be hurt on the road than in other Auckland suburbs.
People were being seriously injured just doing normal things like going to the shops, to work, to school, to church, or visiting friends and wh?nau. The way we get around our local streets has a real effect on not only road safety, but also on our fitness, our health, and our happiness, as places with higher rates of active travel and exercise are less likely to suffer from obesity and diabetes.
So, what can you do to help support for your local M?ngere community? Firstly, we need to understand why this is happening in M?ngere; Te Ara Mua – Future Streets is a project in M?ngere Central to reflect cultural identity and to make the neighbourhood safer and easier for people to travel around, especially in active ways like walking, cycling, or scooting.
You will have the function of approaching M?ngere Central and M?ngere East addresses (that you'll be provided with), and scheduling time for residents to take the survey. Once trained to conduct the 30-minute survey, you'll be able to explain the benefits of the study to the community, you will be leaving step counting devices with participants and later picking them back up.
The position also involves:
» Ensuring you receive signed consent forms and koha receipts at time of interview.
» Placing step counting devices with the participant/collecting from them again.
» Having regular meetings with your manager to monitor progress and to download step device data.
What do you need?
» A reliable vehicle with current insurance and a driver's license.
» To be confident and comfortable working independently.
   » Have great time management.
» Can keep accurate paperwork and records.
   » Comfortable using a tablet.
» Live in or reasonably close to M?ngere Central or M?ngere East.
Your flexibility is required, as you will need to be able to fit in with the availcapability of participants.
What’sin Information technology for you?
   » An hourly rate of $30.00 p/hour (+ 8% Holiday pay).
» Travel time to, from and within the study area can be claimed.
» IRD milage rate for distance to and from the interviewer’s home.
