Te Tahuhu o te Matauranga – Ministry of Education is seeking Senior Education Advisers to be part of the team located in our Otautahi Office.

Ko wai matou – About our group and team
Te Mahau – Te Tai Runga is a frontline group. Our frontline groups collectively provide leadership abilities and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support, education advice, regulation and network functions for schools and early learning services. We do this through coordinating and delivering responsive solutions in order to realise the local education priorities and goals.
Mo tenei turanga mahi –About this function
We are pursuing a dynamic, proactive and enthusiastic individual to join our team in the Otautahi office. The team have been taking various action to bring to life the vision of Te Ara Whiti @ Te Uruti (our regional change plan) – ‘our people, our organisation, our system will be confident and capable in taking effective Tiriti honouring and racial equity actions’. If you value variety and challenge in your work, have a passion for improving educational achievement for all students/children, particularly Maori and Pasifika, and are committed to building collaborative relationships and finding new ways to do things differently, this could be the function for you.
As a Senior Education Advisor, you will work directly with our tumuaki, senior school leaders, Kahui Ako – Communities of Learning, and Boards of Trustees on strengthening educational performance in schools and kura. You will ensure that sector leaders and the communities in which they operate have access to the skills, programmes and resources that will allow our children and young people to reach their full potential. You will be working as part of the Ministry of Education’s regional team, using evidence and data, and designing and implementing projects with schools to strengthen educational performance.

Do you have:
   » a significant qualification
   » a knowledge and knowledge of the NZ education system
   » an knowledge of te reo Maori ona tikanga
   » the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
   » strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and an capability to work effectively across a diverse range of settings
   » a solutions and values-located approach?
These skills will enable you to:
   » build trusting relationships and work confidently and effectively with schools, kura kaupapa, iwi, runanga and other stakeholders
   » understand the barriers to engagement and find solutions
   » support schools to apply practices aligned to Ka Hikitia Ka Hapaitia and the Pacific Education Plan.
