Hawkes Bay M?ori Pathways is looking to appoint two practiced frontline case manager staff to lead out on implementing M?ori Pathways while applying kaupapa M?ori and wh?nau-centred approaches. These functions represent an opportunity to shape a new way of working with culturally grounded solutions and innovations that support our H?kai Rangi strategy and direction toward transformational change for the criminal justice system – one that builds on the good things that are already happening, and, most importantly, innovates to find new ways of doing things to achieve better results for M?ori, wh?nau and communities.
M?ori Pathways – Hawkes Bay is one of two key trial areas for the four-year programme which has been co-designed with wh?nau, iwi, hap? M?ori, external organisations and individuals independent of Ara Poutama Aotearoa. These functions represent a unique opportunity which will see you making differences in the lives of the t?ne you will work with, as well as their families.

We are seeking for staff who can hit the ground running and deliver on wh?nau centred results with t?ne and their wh?nau. Principal functions are responsible for leading and managing a team towards a te ao M?ori way of working to deliver seamless practice that is centred on t?ne goals and aspirations with a Wh?nau Manaaki Plan. These key leadership abilities functions are the ?connectors’ of our business, supporting and facilitating critical planning to implement and deliver on our strategic results, and drive the delivery of change. You will bring your innovative thinking, relationship management skills, with the capability to lead in your space, influence and socialise the benefits of M?ori Pathways. For this specific function, you will need to have a strong level of knowledge in case management practice.
About the functions | M? te t?nga
M?ori Pathways case managers will enable the safe management of sentences with a Wh?nau Manaaki Plan (WMP). You will be at the forefront of a te ao M?ori way of working that places t?ne and wh?nau needs at the centre of their practice and provides professional support to ensures judicial monitoring updates are completed as necessary. this function will focus on pre-sentence through to being released into the community. Information technology will also promote, socialise and champion the enhancements of case management practice when working with M?ori, and how this approach supports the aspirations of H?kai Rangi and Whakaritenga
Key function accountabilities include:
   » Support the M?ori Pathways Manager to implement a new way of working through the He Ara Hou Operating Model transitioning to wh?nau centred approaches for those in our care from pre-sentence to being released into the community.
   » ensure that case management is delivered accordingly to legislative requirements and national quality standards and resources are effectively and efficiently applied.
   » Ensure reintegration needs are identified in WMP prior to release, quality handovers are in place with considerations for pafunction and/or special conditions that ensure community safety
   » preparing pafunction board reports that best articulates the value of WMP that reflect t?ne knowledge, learnings and te ao M?ori knowledge as strategies for wrap around support in the community.
   » provide timely and regular reporting to Principal Advisor Case Management M?ori Pathways to support effective and informed decision making.
   » Act as key liaison point and relationship manager for M?ori Pathways case management within Prison and provide subject matter skills for M?ori Pathways case management practice.
   » Lead out on systemic and practice transformation and implement approved changes in prototypes and pilots that will enhance the M?ori Pathways practice and results that are wh?nau centric.
   » Proactively identify M?ori Pathways project risks, working collaboratively to resolve issues.
   » Represent M?ori Pathways in key fora and support culture change in the prison and community sites.
   » Ensure a positive collaborative, transparent and values-led working relationship with key stakeholders including HB Maori Pathways Manager, Prison Director, District Manager, Iwi, Local providers, New Zealand Pafunction Board and Corrections staff to embed and socialise M?ori Pathways
A demonstrated knowledge of tikanga and knowledge of te reo would also be an advantage.
