At Christchurch Womens Prison is exciting new and innovative ways of working towards healing and guiding people in our care to avoid re-offending and equip them for a better life for themselves in the future. As a Social Worker, you will be working closely with wahine, staff, whanau, hapu and iwi.
We appreciate the different skill set within our team who come from different backgrounds, cultures, education and practice - they all share the capability to motivate and work alongside others to support them to make positive changes in their lives.

We’re looking for someone who can actively listen and understand those we work with and are keen to help them gain insight into their harmful behaviours. To undertake this function you will need to be comfortable walking alongside people on their journey and consistently reflecting on your own practice.
To support you in the function, Information technology would be valuable if you have an knowledge of individual and group behaviour, and/or significant tertiary education, social work, along with demonstrated practice within a related area.

We are pursuing people who:
   » Are effective listeners and communicators and who have the capability to build strong positive relationships with participants and other stakeholders; whanau and Mana Whenua
   » Have knowledge of, or are willing to lgain about Maori culture, protocols and peoples and apply kaupapa Maori practice in your work
   » Ideally have practice in delivering and facilitating therapeutic interventions, either individual or, ideally, group therapy
   » Have life practice that means you can work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and ethnic groups
   » Are comfortable having their practice viewed and receptive in receiving and utilising regular feedback on their practice
   » Have practice with report writing
Please note that this position is 12 months Fixed Term 20 hours per week and is located at Christchurch Womens Prison.Some travel around the District maybe required from time to time, located on business requirements.
We are seeking for someone to start in this function late July / early August.
Utu ?-tau | income
The income range for this function is $58,481– $78,347.Appointment and remuneration will reflect expertise and practice significant to the function.
