PURPOSE
The Exhibitions Manager is responsible for project managing, planning and staging the operational and logistical aspects of exhibitions across the H?tea Art Precinct whilst ensuring everything is completed in an effective and timely manner. The Exhibitions Manager is also responsible for exhibition-related registrar tasks, in collaboration with the Collections Manager.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
   » Manage exhibition schedules, planning, installation, de-installation and execution of the exhibition programme.
   » Lead internal and external technicians to deliver the installation of exhibitions. Perform installation and de-install of exhibitions as required.
   » Build budgets and timelines for projects. Manage the execution of work undertaken by contractors and external services for exhibition projects.
   » Maintain a collaborative environment with curatorial and education staff to address modifications or concerns with exhibition display and fabrication.
   » With the Head of Curatorial & Engagement, prepare exhibition reports at the conclusion of each exhibition.
   » supervises handling, packing, movement, and inspection of all objects entering or leaving establishment, including traveling exhibits, and confers with other personnel to develop and initiate most practical methods of packing and shipping fragile or valuable objects.
   » supervises safety of staff and guests on or around work sites.
   » Coordinate the insurance of works of art, either commercially or through the Hatea Art Precinct's indemnity scheme, and compile and file insurance claims in the event of loss or damage of work.
   » supervises movement, packing, and shipping of objects to conform to insurance regulations.
   » Maintain and update facility reports and standard registrarial documents.
   » Research loans and contact with the Head of Galleries & Collections to prepare loan documentation, administer loan requests and ensure loan conditions are fulfilled.
   » Maintains records of storage, exhibit, and loan locations of all objects in collection for use of establishment personnel, insurance representatives, and other persons utilizing facilities.
   » Organise exhibition related transport, which includes updating shipping lists, obtaining estimates of costs, and monitoring customs documentation, liaising with shippers and the exhibition curator.
   » supervise the administration and transport arrangements for specific exhibitions on tour and act as courier for touring exhibitions when necessary.
   » Undertake the function in conformity with the principles of Te Tiriti (The Treaty of Waitangi).
   » Perform other tasks as assigned.

expertise, practice & EDUCATION
   » Bachelor's degree in Art History, Museum Studies, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
   » At least three years of work practice in museum collections and/or registration required.
   » practice working on collaborative exhibition development and interdepartmental projects.
   » Excellent expertise of industry best standards and practices: preservation and conservation practices, risk assessment, and art-handling procedures.
   » Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication expertise.
   » capability to develop strong, positive relationships with community partners.
   » capability to resourcefully solve problems and work flexibly and accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent project management expertise.
   » A self-starter with the capability to work independently and interdepartmentally.
   » Computer expertise including Word, Outlook, Excel, Past Perfect or other Collections Management systems, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
