Job Description

Help us move towards a barrier-free pathway to vocational education for our learners with impairments. We are seeking for a strategic leader who is committed to educational equity and raising achievement for learners to make a real difference at Wintec.
About the function
Reporting to the Student practice Manager, you will coordinate and lead a team to develop and deliver a comprehensive programme of support to ensure equity of access, inclusion and success for people living with discapability at Wintec. You will also identify best practice approaches to achieve an inclusive and equitable environment for learners with impairments to succeed.
As Accessibility Manager, you will work closely with tauira / learners, advisors, kaiako / tutors and corporate staff across the institution to maximise Wintec’s capability to support learners with impairments and diverse backgrounds. You will show initiative, make decisions, use discretion when Information technology is needed and always apply sound judgement. You will be adaptable and flexible with a commitment to customer service and quality.
Are you an ideal candidate?
You will have the following:
   » practice and passion about organisation-wide initiatives to address barriers to equity for people living with a discapability
   » practice and enjoy working with M?ori and Pasifika tauira and communities
   » A commitment to create a team culture where tauira / learners are at the centre of decision making
   » An knowledge of contemporary barriers to equity for people living with impairments
   » An approach to work that is systematic and well organised but will also see you flex up and adapt to changes in workflow or priorities as required
   » Highly developed communication and analytical expertise
   » A demonstrated knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
   » Initiative and be able to direct work on your own while also leading projects and getting the best out of those with whom you are working
A tertiary qualification or comparable practice, strong leadership abilities expertise and highly developed communication and analytical expertise are essential. practice in the tertiary sector would be an advantage.
