He angit?tanga: The opportunity
The Production Manager, Collections & Exhibitions is a critical member of our team, as you will best tasked with delivering project management leadership abilities and support to the Collections Team to deliver exhibition projects, supervise gallery maintenance and the delivery of innovative solutions to enhance collection care.
this function is essential to ensuring both internal and external expectations are met and the legacy of contributors to exhibitions and the museum are maintained.
Key Job responsibilities:
Planning & implementation:
   » Work with Collections and Exhibitions team to scope, prioritise and plan projects
   » Ensure high standards of credibility, innovation and visitor engagement are maintained, delivered, and reported on
   » Lead the development of innovative and responsive solutions to collection management challenges
   » Maintain supplies of materials and equipment for project requirements, including the management of project resources and budgets
Management:
   » Manage the coordination, scheduling and fabrication of the exhibition, gallery, and selected collection projects while ensuring strategic goals are achieved
   » The capability to lead from the front - you will be tasked with recruiting a Museum and Collections Technician, and will need the capability to work with and manage external contractors and the connected budgets
   » Manage gallery maintenance processes and connected resourcing to ensure faults are dealt with quickly
   » Procure and maintain audio-visual, multimedia and lighting components in addition to forward planning of assets
   » An acute consciousness of and the capability to work with Health and Safety best practice protocols, especially in busy environments like ours where visitors and staff will be in proximity of projects that may be underway

To be prosperous in this function, you will have:
   » A minimum of 3 years' practice with exhibition delivery and connected project management, within a museum background
   » A tertiary qualification in a discipline significant to the project management needs of the museum
   » An knowledge of, and interest in, NZ history and maritime history
   » A high level of approachcapability and flexibility - you will be working and interacting with people from all different walks of life, including artist and community groups
   » Creative problem solving expertise and excellent time management
   » Strong interpersonal expertise with a demonstrated capability to lead others, both your own staff and external stakeholders such as contractors
   » A strong knowledge of budgets and financial processes

This is a permanent, fulltime opportunity, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required on occasion after core business hours and on the weekend.
