The Ruby on Rails development team at the Ministry of Social Development requires an additional full stack web developer. You might have practice working consistently across the stack or have specialised and now be looking to broaden your expertise. You will be involved in a wide variety of development activities - front and back-end coding, code review, user practice and web accessibility. We are seeking for the following expertise and practice: » Have worked on a few applications, possibly using Rails or another web framework » Can create clean, well factored code » Haspreviously written client-side JavaScript with jQuery, might have some practice with a client-side framework like React, and have worked with CSS frameworks like Bootstrap » Has the understand ng how structured data is stored in a relational database and can write basic queries using SQL » Has applied web accessibility and uscapability standards to your user interfaces and have a commitment to creating an accessible user practice » Participated in code reviews and can improve your code in response to feedback » Can easily to build relationships with stakeholders with excellent written and verbal communication expertise » Has the availcapabilityto work after hours if require About the Rails team We look after a diverse range of about 20 applications. Some are ten years old; others have just been released. Some support the work of a single team; others are used by people in partner organisations and by members of the public. All contribute to the work that the Ministry does to support New Zealanders. We aim to build high quality applications with a focus on maintaincapability. We don't chase the latest fashions but use mature frameworks. We are a professional and practiced team using modern software development and devops practices. We are serious about our work but try to laugh about everything else. We are part of a large Information technology division within the Ministry but most of our applications stand alone. There is a fair amount of bureaucracy around us, but we have a good degree of autonomy within the team.
