We are pursuing a keen book lover and tech-savvy person who has cracked the secret of being a social media expert AND an avid bookworm at the same time.

McLeods Booksellers is a 78 years-old family-owned business in the heart of Rotorua who pride themselves on quality, personal customer service and we want to translate the practice customers have inside our physical shop to an effective online platform too. Can you help us to spread the ?wow' factor?

We require someone who is able to engage in interesting conversations and give great book recommendations as well as contribute to reviews so our new member needs to come with an already interstellar book expertise and love of books. This is non negotiable.

Permanent Part Time (30 hours from Tuesday-Saturday)
Position commences mid February, full shop training provided

BOOKSHOP / RETAIL SKILL SET
   »
Showing initiative and a positive, ?can do' attitude across all areas of the business. We need proactivity and ideas person who can problem solve.
   »
Have a warm and level-headed temperament with the capability to build rapport with customers.
   »
Be computer savvy and able to operate POS systems efficiently. Attention to detail is key.
   »
Possess good recall and a knack for remembering names and faces.
   »
Be comfortable and confident to initiate self directed tasks in the shop when required.
   »
Have an interest in book marketing and the inner workings of a small independent business.
   »
Flexibility within your skill set, no two days will be the same and being able to move between different tasks is important.
   »
expertise of te reo M?ori is a plus! Our bookshop is renowned for its M?ori book range, both nationally and internationally.

BOOKSHOP RESPONSIBILITIES
Some of your responsibilities will include but are not exclusive too;
   »
Serving customers, hand selling and recommending books.
   »
Shelving books and general cleaning of the store.
   »
Processing inwards goods, this entails unboxing products and loading them into our back office system. This can vary day to day, buit will often take a large chunk of your day.
   »
Assisting management with admin tasks and Xero

ONLINE MARKETING, SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEBSITE RESPONSIBILITIES
   »
Developing, running and measuring a marketing strategy plan for the business focused on the online environment; working with management to create a strong social media presence.
   »
Working with management to create customised social media editorial lines, content and strategies with measurable results to increase brand consciousness and driving website traffic whilst increasing sales;
   »
Measuring and improving the company's website;
   »
Creating and running regular customised website content and strategies;
   »
Developing, running and measuring customised online campaigns and advertisements;
   »
Engaging in conversation in the online space;
   »
Tracking and reporting online performance.
