About us – M? m?tou
The Ng?i Tahu M?ori Health Research Unit (NTMHRU) was established in 1996 and is located within the Office of the Division of Health Sciences at the University of Otago. The NTMHRU is co-led by Associate Professor Emma Wyeth and Professor Sue Crengle. We undertake a wide variety of research. We also teach a range of hauora M?ori topics and paper, including hauora M?ori public health papers hosted in the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine.
The function – Te mahi
We have an opportunity for a Teaching Fellow to join our team and support hauora M?ori teaching in the NTMHRU, primarily across under-graduate and post-graduate hauora M?ori public health papers. The prosperous candidate will be part of a strong hauora M?ori teaching team.
Key tasks of the function include:
   » Working closely with the hauora M?ori academic colleague who convenes each significant paper.
   » Preparing learning materials in conjunction with the paper convenor.
   » Attending lectures and participating in class discussions.
   » Preparing and delivering tutorials.
   » Assisting with marking, assessment reporting and the management of electronic learning platforms related to hauora M?ori teaching.

prosperous candidates will have:
   » A Bachelor degree and significant paper(s) in M?ori health and/or development, public health or other significant discipline.
   » Sound expertise of hauora M?ori and public health.
   » An aptitude for effective teaching at tertiary level.
   » Effective written and verbal communication expertise.
   » Excellent organisation and time management expertise.
   » An capability to work effectively as a member of a team, and independently.
   » A commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and an appreciation of te reo M?ori and tikanga M?ori.

This is a full-time (1 FTE), fixed-term position for 12 months.
