Who we are – Ko wai m?tou
The School of Physiotherapy strives to provide excellence in physiotherapy teaching, research, and clinical practice. Our focus is primarily on the assessment, treatment, and avoidance of physical dysfunction, and in the promotion of health for people of all ages.
Our Christchurch Centre serves as a teaching base for fourth-year tauira (students) completing their clinical education and practice in the Canterbury, West Coast, and Nelson/Marlborough provinces. These clinical contexts are with both Te Whatu Ora Te Waipounamu and private practice partners across Primary, Rehabilitation and Tertiary environments.
We are committed to working closely with iwi and M?ori organisations, and m?tauraka M?ori has become an integral part of teaching and research across the institution. We especially value our relationship with Ngai Tahu, the mana whenua within their takiw? of Te Waipounamu, and the University’s principal Treaty partner.
The function – Te mahi
We are seeking for a highly motivated Professional Practice Fellow/Kairuruku Ritenga Utua, with a passion and enthusiasm for sharing expertise and expertise with tauira to work as a clinical educator in our Christchurch Centre.
Key tasks of this function include:
   » Supporting tauira learning within the clinical setting, including identifying areas for progression and pastoral care needs.
   » Preparation, assessment, teaching and paper administration tasks, under the supervision of an academic colleague.
   » Contributing to the School’s academic goals by applying and sharing expert expertise in Primary, Community and Musculoskeletal Care.
   » Promoting the School’s efforts to understand and realise the letter and the spirit of the University’s M?ori Strategic Framework, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Your expertise and practice – K? p?keka me k? wheako
The prosperous candidate will be expected to have:
   » Current registration with the NZ Physiotherapy Board.
   » A full New Zealand driver’s license.
   » Strong clinical expertise in Primary, Community and Musculoskeletal Care.
   » Proven practice in a broad range of physiotherapy practice.
   » Confidence to contact effectively with tauira.
   » capability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with external providers of clinical placements in the Primary care setting.
   » Strong verbal communication expertise.
   » Commitment to upholding values, tikanga, kawa and traditions, as guided by Ng?i Tahu who are mana whenua in the region.
We particularly welcome applications from M?ori and Pasifika practitioners, who will bring perspectives and conduct practice that is beneficial for our M?ori and Pacific communities.

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), permanent position, located in ?tautahi/Christchurch.
