Join the M?ori Health Workforce Development Unit (MHWDU) at the University of Otago and help make a positive impact on M?ori health and education. We are a small, friendly and passionate team dedicated to increasing the number of M?ori health education and in Aotearoa/New Zealand’s health workforce. Te mahi – The function
As a Kai?rahi (adjunct Programme Coordinator), you will support the delivery of our M?ori Health Workforce support programmes. These programmes are designed to support M?ori, secondary school students, students transitioning to University, first year health sciences students and students in health sciences degrees. All programmes designed to foster the retention and achievement of M?ori students pursuing health sciences degrees at the University of Otago. Your responsibilities will include working alongside a team to provide tailored academic, coordinating workships and forging significant connections (whakawhanaungatanga) with/between M?ori students, university staff, and community groups.
Key tasks:
   » Facilitate the design and delivery of Te Whakapu?wai M?ori HSFY student support programme.
   » Facilitate learning for M?ori HSFY students, in particular academic skills, the peer education component and student’s professional and cultural development.
   » Support the management of results data for Te Whakapu?wai (qualitative and quantitative).
   » Tracking and monitoring the progress of M?ori students, ensuring accurate and up-to-date student records and data management.
   » Contributing to the planning, coordination, and prosperous implementation of hui, w?nanga and professional development opportunities for M?ori students.
   » Reporting on student progress to the MHWDU, providing valuable insights for programme improvement and development.
   » Encouraging student participation and utilisation of services and programmes offered by the M?ori Centre and other University staff.
You will also have the opportunity to lend your skills to other exciting MHWDU programmes and collaborative team initiatives.

We are seeking for a positive, friendly, approachable person who can relate and build relationships with tertiary students, staff and M?ori communities. prosperous candidates will also have:
   » Demonstrated capability to work effectively across multiple projects.
   » Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
   » Strong verbal and written communication, including report writing, skills.
   » practice planning and facilitating activities and events.
   » The capability to meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely and professional manner.
   » Competency in use of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel for report generation and analysis.
   » Some flexibility for after-hours work (agreed in advance).
   » Proficiency in te reo M?ori me ?n? tikanga is desired but not essential.
   » A tertiary qualification and demonstrated knowledge of the tertiary sector is desired but not essential.

This is a fixed-term position for one year. The function is part-time 0.8 FTE (30 hours) minimum to full-time (37.5 hours), negotiable.Days and hours of work will be negotiated.
