About our group and team
Te Mahau -Te Tai Whenua (central)
Our teams around the region work closely with the early childhood and schooling sectors, providers, and communities to provide support, skills and resources to help children and young people reach their full potential.
We also directly provide learning support for around 40,000 children and young people.
About this function
As Manager Eastern Bay of Plenty, you will play a critical function in our region’s Education Management team by doing the following:
   » Leading the delivery of core Ministry services to allocated schools/kura, early learning providers and their communities
   » Providing leadership abilities and guidance to Education Advisor, Student Achievement Function, and Student Support teams to develop and deliver responsive services to school leaders and early learning providers
   » Working with the Learning Support teams to support and lift educational achievement of all young people
   » Management of the Student Support Portfolio and regulatory compliance
   » Building the capcapability of schools and their communities to take leadership abilities of driving student achievement efforts
About you
To be prosperous you will have the following:
   » Educational sector practice or the capability to develop knowledge quickly
   » practice of leading and motivating teams
   » practice working with iwi and diverse communities
   » knowledge of best practice service delivery in the public sector internationally
   » Proven practice of building effective stakeholder engagement, recognising the different needs and appropriate approach to working with different stakeholders
   » Sound knowledge of machinery of government, public sector delivery structures and systems
   » knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and its implications for the work of the Ministry
   » Proven capability to understand policy intent at an abstract level, identify the implications for operational policy and implementation
   » capability to quickly identify and mitigate risks and manage strategic linkages with internal and external initiatives
   » Outcome-focused style of working
   » Great organisation and communication skills and capability to build effective relationships
