ART+OBJECT is a fine art auction house located in central Auckland. A+O holds 10 to 12 auctions per year of fine art, photography, single vendor collections, modern design and studio ceramics. To support these catalogues pre-auction exhibitions are presented at A+O's gallery space at 3 Abbey Street Newton in Central Auckland.
A+O also markets by creating high quality catalogues and online atwww.artandobject.co.nz, more recently we have also developed a significant social media presence, together with on-line auctions and bidding. A+O caters to a highly discerning and expertiseable client base and all members of staff must have excellent communication expertise and a commitment to prompt and professional client service.
A+O was founded in 2007 and since this time has held almost 200 auctions and has developed a market leading reputation. The company has two founding directors and three full time staff. This position is an opportunity to join our small but high performing team and to begin or further develop a career in a dynamic and fascinating industry.
Full time function
The adjunct Manager is located at the front of house and is a vital part of A+O's public face with our clients, including in our reception, on the phone and through email communication. This is a full time function which will also include some evening work as auctions are at night and occasional weekend work when the gallery is open for pre-auction viewings. Information technology is anticipated that this requirement will entail approx 8 evenings per annum and a day for up to 10 weekends. This commitment is reflected in the proposed income.
Training will be provided on all office systems and procedures.
Candidate requirements
A+O is seeking an articulate and well-organized candidate who has had some practice of client service and who possesses excellent computing, oral and written expertise. This is a function which requires strong communication expertise both internally with directors and colleagues and with clients. Competence with Microsoft word and excel is mandatory, along with good written expertise as this function requires regular document preparation and office administration.
Over the past few years the business has increasingly developed it's on-line presence. Some practice with website maintenance would be an advantage.
Other expertise that may be advantageous to the function:
» Photography and photo editing expertise (gallery installations, decorative arts and books photography)
   » Digital content creation
» Writing for email marketing and website
» Administration, great verbal and written communication and research expertise
