Te Uru is seeking a new Director who is a proven dynamic leader in the arts sector. This key function will strategically support and nurture our team and collaborators, and supervise the development of innovative and inclusive programmes to ensure the continued sustainable growth of Te Uru.

Te Uru is a regional gallery uniquely located in Titirangi in a magnificent, award-winning building set amidst the forested outskirts of T?maki Makaurau. Te Uru is one of Aotearoa's leading contemporary galleries with an increasingly international programme that reflects our place in Aotearoa and the wider Moana region, connecting new ideas and different practices with local and global networks.

With ourwidelyrespected inaugural Director moving on to newadventures, Te Uru is now seeking a strong leader and advocate for the arts to join its team as Director l Kaitohu. This important position is vital to maintain and develop Te Uru's reputation for excellence, and to advance our vision, to be the leading home for contemporary culture that is fresh, significant, empowering, and essential to the wellbeing of our communities.

tasks and responsibilities

In this function, you will:
   » Work with the governance committee to develop and implement strategy
   » Represent the gallery in public and sector forums
   » Support and lead the staff and programming of the gallery
   » Ensure intellectual integrity and best practice principles are upheld
   » Ensure the long-term future of the gallery through the development of resilient and sustainable resources and processes
   » Maintain and develop collaborative relationships and networks that are essential to deliver the objectives of our strategic plan
   » Take overall responsibility for all areas of the organisation including; artistic, curatorial, operational, financial, and promotional functions

expertise and practice

To succeed in this function, you will demonstrate:
   » Proven leadership abilities expertise and practice, with excellent facilitation expertise and the capability to bring people together and develop positive relationships
   » Strong strategic planning expertise and an entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
   » Proven practice in developing exhibitions, with a sound expertise and passion for New Zealand and international contemporary art
   » Confident and collaborative advocacy for the importance of arts and culture, and substantive connections within Aotearoa's arts and cultural sector
   » Commitment to uphold and advance the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and maintain best practice in tikanga M?ori
   » Postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) in Art History, Fine Art, or Curatorial Studies
