About us
AucklandDHB employs over 10,000 highly skilled clinical and non-clinical professionals.In addition to providing hospital and health services to theAucklandcentral district, we also provide other DHBs across NZ and the Pacific region with complex tertiary and quaternary services.
About the Service
Older Person's Health provides services for those over 65 years. Within the hospital setting Information technology has several pathways including frailty, ortho-geriatric and, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. As an integral part of the team you will help to shape and develop services for older people in Auckland including those living with frailty who require urgent and emergency care. We are currently redesigning our pathways ensuring that they are accessible, responsive and person centred and most importantly that they support people to remain as close to home as possible whilst still being able to access expert care.
There are strong links with Adult Community Services and ARRC to support admission avoidance and early transitions from the hospital. Information technology is an exciting time for the service as we look to implement an acute frailty service and an enhanced ortho-geriatric service for fractured neck of femur.
About the function
this function is crucial to the delivery of our vision and whilst you will be part of a wider multi-professional team you must be confident in working on your own as a trail blazer for older peoples' services, making autonomous decisions in the urgent and emergency care footprint including within ED.
The Consultant will participate in strategic planning and pathway development; foster a culture of clinical excellence and innovation; promote a teaching-learning and research environment; manage risk, audit and evaluate quality and performance indicators; and lead continuous improvement to achieve the best possible patient results.
The leader who fulfils this new function will promote integrated, evidence-located, interdisciplinary care in close collaboration with Medical, Nursing, and Allied Health leadership abilities. The Consultant will practice clinically at an expert level to progress the most complex cases with the remaining time focussed on education, service development and research. The will also develop effective relationships across the organisation and, in partnership with key stakeholders, lead the way locally, regionally and nationally.

As the ideal candidate for the function, you will also have the following attributes:
   » Proven clinical leadership abilities skills within Older Person's Health in a large hospital setting
   » Have completed a significant post graduate clinical Master's degree or equivalent.
   » practice leading service development, clinical research, audit and evaluation
   » Be registered in a significant Allied Health profession and have a current Annual Practicing Certificate in New Zealand
   » A passion for Older Person's Health services with a commitment to achieving excellent clinical and business results located on quality service delivery and outstanding compassionate patient care
   » A comprehensive knowledge of the obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and a commitment to supporting equitable results for M?ori.
   » The capability to live and lead the Auckland DHB values of Haere Mai, Manaaki, Tuhono and Angamua.
