We are part ofStarship Child Health, co-located in a multi-agency centre ( Puawaitahi) with the ADHB Family Violence Team, SHINE, ?Power to Protect? (the National Shaken Baby avoidance Program), the Auckland City Police Child Protection Team and the Clinical Services Unit of Oranga Tamariki. We provide a unique service covering the child protection needs of New Zealand's most vulnerable children and young people and their families.About the function: The Senior Paediatric Social Workeris anpracticedpractitionerwithproven clinicalcompetence withinthe area of social work andworks with a specific clientgrouptoprovideclient/family/whanaucentred carewithinan interdisciplinaryteamsetting. Thefunction isprimarily clinicalandincludesa leadership abilities/managementcomponentfor juniorstaff. The Senior Paediatric Social Workerwillholdadesignatedportfolioresponsibilityandleadclinicaleducationand quality improvement initiatives significanttotheareaof speciality. They providecomprehensive assessment andoutcome focussed innovativecare,applyingevidencelocated practice,interventions andeducationwithinthe areaofspeciality. Please see the position description here About you: As the ideal candidate you will have: » broad child protection knowledge » Recent practice working for Oranga Tamariki will be advantageous » Knowledge and skills in the management of child protection assessments along with an interest in adolescent sexual assault » A passion for working with young people and advocating for their specific needs You will also have practice in the delivery of service which is appropriate to Maori Tamariki and Whanau who access ADHB services. You will have a recognised Social Work qualification; you will have social work registration and a current APC and have an knowledge of Tikanga Maori and the capability to apply this in practice.
