Do you enjoy creating exceptional visitor practices?
As a vital member of the Museum team, the Visitor practice Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering the best possible practices for all visitors to Waikato Museum. As part of the leadership abilities team, you will co-develop and manage an inspirational and transformational visitor practice programme that is strong at our core and alive in Waikato communities. This is an exciting customer-centric function, responsible for leading all the front of house services, public programmes, exhibitions, education, and community engagement for Waikato Museum. The remit for this function is broad and complex, offering the right person the strategic bandwidth to make their mark and enhance the public's practice of Waikato Museum.
This is a key position that fosters positive best practice in order to grow audiences, visitation loyalty and satisfaction with the Museum. You will work with the team to integrate quality customer service, creativity, pedagogical skills, and community participation into the overall visitor practice programme. Information technology will also have a focus on strengthening our sustaincapability through operating more efficiently and maximising opportunities for earnings generation. On a day-to-day basis you will provide direction and support to the team with a focus on creating a welcoming, engaging, and fun practice for all those who visit! The creative side of you will enjoy the identification and development of new services and products along with working collaboratively with other teams at the Museum. As the Museum operates 7 days per week, you'll need to be visible, flexible, and available to your team on rotating rosters.
The Visitor practice Manager is an advocate for the museum locally, regionally, and nationally and will possess a high degree of integrity and professionalism.
We're looking for an empowering leader who may have come from the museum, tourism, customer services, creative or event management sectors. You will be able to lead and inspire a front-of-house and visitor practice team to deliver high quality and engaging customer services and practices. You will have proven practice in developing and managing complex programmes that target and attract diverse audiences, along with a wide variety of networks and partnerships in the sector and community. A strong expertise of Tikanga and Te Ao Maaori would be valued.
This is an opportunity to manage the visitor practice operation of Waikato Museum, operating 7 days per week, 364 days per year delivering a range of services to our visitors including hosting, tours, exhibitions, education and unique practices. We're looking for candidates who are great communicators, exude professionalism, and are willing to go the extra mile to help visitors and the wider Museum team.
