The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet is seeking an practiced principal analyst who will contribute their unique abilities and practice to the Child Wellbeing and Poverty Reduction Group.
The prosperous candidate will lead work on key policy areas and actions to support the implementation of the Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy (the Strategy).The function will involve working across government and with a wide variety of stakeholders to provide policy advice and support to senior managers and Ministers on child wellbeing priorities.
Reporting to the Director, you will:
   » lead work to respond to the recommendations of the recent review of the Strategy
   » lead the group’s policy work to support child and wh?nau wellbeing in the first 1000 days of a child’s life
   » work with others in the group to provide policy advice about strengthening the way we measure, monitor and report on progress on the Strategy’s results
   » work across government to ensure that child wellbeing and poverty reduction priorities are embedded in other key work programmes that support the implementation of the Strategy.
The ideal candidate will have advanced tertiary qualifications and broad practice advising senior decision makers on strategy and policy. An knowledge of child development and practice working on policy areas relating to child wellbeing are desirable.
To be considered for this function you will have strong analytical expertise, the intellectual capacity to see connections between issues and across time, and the agility to work across a broad range of topics. You will be comfortable working in a high autonomy environment, dealing with high degrees of ambiguity and uncertainty, and exercising discretion and judgement. You will be a thought leader as well as a leader of people. You will have a track record in building high trust relationships and in working in partnership with iwi, M?ori and other community stakeholders to deal with problems constructively, mobilise collective action and achieve positive results.
