By the end of 2022 Ara Poutama Aotearoa will have new facilities at Waikeria prison including a mental health and addiction service (WMHAS), designed to address the needs of ng? t?ne in our care. This service is being designed, implemented and governed in partnership with mana whenua ahi k? (Ng?ti Maniapoto ki te Raki and Raukawa ki Wharepuhanga) and the Waikato District Health Board.
This unique recruitment leadership abilities function will support the Central Region’s capability to deliver a M?ori operating model across Waikeria Prison. You will be part of a team working with site leadership abilities, to design a culturally considerate and informed recruitment and selection process aligned to our values. Ara Poutama, Aotearoa is committed to working in partnership to improve results for ng? t?ne in our care and their wh?nau. this function will take the lead in considering how all aspects of recruitment, from attraction to operational delivery, will support this effort.
You will be:

As the recruitment lead you will work closely with the Waikeria prison development & MHAS project teams, mana whenua and site leadership abilities group. You will plan and recruit the wide variety of functions required to operationalise the site in 2022. These will include custodial functions, case managers, Instructors, a range of health and wellness positions, peer support and Maori-specific functions to name a few. We will be under pressure to do this quickly so Information technology is important you can use your local skills in combination with the skills of the National Recruitment team located in Wellington to ensure timely delivery. Advertising, selection, candidate management and pre employment / onboarding skills will be available to support you and your onsite recruitment team to deliver on this mahi.
We will have several recruitment advisory functions become available in the Central Region following the recruitment of this lead function, so please get in touch for more information if this is of interest to you.
