About our group and team
The Early Learning and Student Achievement (ELSA) group is a key part of the Ministry with over 300 staff. The group works to make learning and teaching significant, real and valued.
Within ELSA, the Education Workforce team delivers a range of work including:
   » The annual Prime Minister’s Education Excellence Awards, showcasing best practice teaching across New Zealand
   » The Teacher Supply programme, getting the right teachers in the right place at the right time and supporting teachers on their pathway from teacher training and employment through to continuing their professional development learning practice
   » The Education Workforce Strategy providing the Government with a range of aspirational, ambitious, transformati onal, sustainable, and enduring options for consideration
   » The Pay Equity and Employment Relations team
About this function
Do you have a love for engagement but also of making things happen? If so, We are seeking for you.
We are pursuing an practiced Communications and Engagement Adviser to join us, working primarily in the Prime Minister’s Awards team, but also across the Pay Equity and Employment Relations team, and Teacher Supply team. We want Somebody with the capability to persuade and clearly communicate with stakeholders, as well as providing sound communication and engagement advice across the team.
About you
To be prosperous in this function, you will be an excellent communicator, with well-developed presentation and writing expertise. Being able to quickly adapt to a changing environment and deliver high quality work is a critical requirement.
You will also offer the following:
   » Previous practice in a communications or engagement function
   » Previous practice with developing and implementing communications and engagement plans
   » The capability to write clear, concise content for a range of channels
   » The capability to work independently with a high degree of initiative
   » An innovative and conceptual thinking style
   » Excellent communication expertise and the capability to work collaboratively with others to deliver results
   » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
