Our Safety & Wellbeing team have a unique opportunity for a Health Risk and Wellbeing Advisor to be located in our Central Region. Lead and coordinate regional work-related health risk management and broader wellbeing activities so that site and team leaders can keep their people safe and well. Your capability to influence without authority will be critical, as you’ll partner with our leaders, to provide support, coaching and mentoring that will lift their capcapability in managing occupational health and wellbeing on site.
This opportunity calls for a passionate and practiced OH&S professional who has a strong technical knowledge of H&S risk assessment and who is motivated to influence the culture and behaviours around occupational health and wellbeing of our people. Ara Poutama Aotearoa is a unique, 24/7 business operating from 151 sites across Aotearoa. We also deliver instructional and rehabilitation programmes in high-risk industries, such as construction, engineering and agriculture - so this function will also have strong focus on supporting critical risk management in that space.

If you are motivated by the opportunity to enhance and advance our occupational health and wellbeing activities, practices and systems, then we want to hear from you! These are some of the requirements below:
   » Excellent collaboration expertise and capability to develop strong relationships to drive culture change with key stakeholders
   » Knowledge of health and safety acts and regulations and how to interpret them
   » practice in occupational hygiene, occupational health, health and safety or similar function
   » Knowledge of and practice in mental health and wellbeing concepts, that can maintain and enhance mental health and wellbeing within organisations
   » Confidence in presenting to groups in a range of settings
   » capability to develop, communicate and deliver on plans
   » An knowledge (or an openness to developing an knowledge) of the Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to the work of government departments
   » Strong level of cultural capcapability and consciousness, able to work effectively with diverse groups of people
The income banding for this functions ranges from $75,829 up to $107,052 located on significant expertise & practice.

Covid 19 Vaccination Requirements
All people working inside prisons are required to be fully vaccinated as part of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021.Ara Poutama is currently consulting with Community Corrections on a proposed policy would require all staff working in Community Corrections to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as well. If approved, this requirement will commence on 28 April 2022.
