Project Support adjunct:UniServicesJob description:Job DescriptionPosition:Project Support adjunct – Addictions» 1 year fixed term, full time » Help people who smoke to quit and provide feedback on the Aotearoa Smoke Free Action Pan 2025 » Work with diverse communities including M?ori and Pasifika Who we are At the National Institute for Health Innovation (NIHI), we discover, develop, test and evaluate innovative approaches to today’s most pressing health problems. Our work is focused on preventing disease, improving people’s health, reducing health inequities and enabling the delivery of more effective and equitable healthcare. Managed by UniServices, we provide independent scientific evidence that supports individuals, communities, clinicians and policymakers. The opportunity You will be part of the Addictions Portfolio team which is largely made up of clinical trials and research projects in the addictions field such as Smoking Cessation, Gambling Harm and Alcohol and Drug misuse. Working closely with academic researchers and the wider research team, you will work on a smoking cessation clinical trial and a project which involves a series of surveys aimed at people who are current smokers. However, there may be opportunities to support other research and service delivery projects within the Addictions portfolio to broaden your practice and genuinely make a difference to people’s health and wellbeing. Ideally you will have qualifications and/or practice in the health and/or addiction sector. Previous practice in public health research would be advantageous. Key Job responsibilities: » Phone trial participants to complete follow up calls/interviews » Prepare and track delivery of medication packs for the clinical trial » Visit Auckland located trial participants to take carbon monoxide tests » Complete electronic data collection forms » Accurately and completely transcribe recorded participant interviews » Maintain project trackers such as call logs and study specific shared mailbox » Contribute to activities to improve recruitment targets and retention of participants » Create reports to track project metrics » contact with Smoking Cessation Service Providers outside Auckland to ensure follow up calls performed on time » Attend induction and other training events aligned with the function e.g. Good Clinical Practice » Contribute to regular project meetings to ensure transparency of information Your expertise and practice: It is essential for you to have: » Good listening expertise and the capability to build rapport with members of the public from different cultural, educational and social backgrounds » Excellent organisational expertise » Consistent attention to detail » Good computer expertise and capability to update and manage excel spreadsheets » The capability to work independently If you have proficiency in Te Reo M?ori and/or one or more Pacific languages this would be extremely valuable.
