located in Palmerston North, Environment Network Manawatu (ENM) is a well-established umbrella group for 60+ environmental member groups. ENM supervises Manawat? Food Action Network (MFAN), to empower and enable community to take charge of their food security and resilience. This will positively contribute to mental and physical health, create more connectivity and expertise and decrease dependency on handouts via foodbanks, etc.
 
We are pursuing a strategic thinker with strong relationship-building, communication and facilitation expertise with a passion for growing kai sustaincapability and resilience for a newly formed function to complement the grassroots work of the MFAN Coordinator. The MFAN Kai Security Strategy Lead is responsible to create the conditions (political support, stakeholder support, funding, iwi engagement) under which grassroots development can happen with speed.
 
MFAN's current primary purpose is to work on increasing the city-wide food resilience in alliance with the Ora Konnect 4412 Kai Security Squad. The work will be done in close collaboration with the tangata whenua Rangit?ne o Manawat? and a wide variety of service providers and community organisations who together make up Ora Konnect.
 
As the Strategy Lead for MFAN, you will be responsible for:
   » Advocacy for grassroots needs and opportunities.
   » Strategy & Action Plan development & implementation.
   » Project planning and reporting.
   » Helping to identify potential funding sources.
   » Helping with funding applications.
 
In this function you will work with a wide cross section of stakeholders who can make a difference in the space. You will complement the direct ?on the ground/grassroots' action of the MFAN Coordinator in a strategic/policy/stakeholder-management function. You will help with the scaling up of initiatives, advocacy, funding and removal of barriers to success. The two functions should be seen as the two sides of the same coin, or yin and yang. While complementary, they require two very distinct skill sets and operate in different, but overlapping settings. Information technology will be vital for you to work closely with the MFAN Coordinator towards the desired overall results.
 
The preferred applicant will have a tertiary qualification and/or broad practical practice. Solid induction and on-the-job-training will be provided. Days and hours of work are negotiable.
