M? te t?nga | About the function
We are seeking for a talented manager for this challenging and influential position. The Manager – Treaty Partnerships is a key member of the T?matak?kiri Directorate leadership abilities team. You will lead a diverse and multi-disciplinary team that provides strategic advice and guidance to teams across the Ministry on reflecting M?ori rights & interests’ in advice, with the aim of ensuring there is consistency and cohesion (interconnections) across all of the Ministry’s M?ori policy advice and practice. You will also support the Ministry in making sure its settlement commitments are being met.
You will be responsible for leading a team that:
   » Is responsible for negotiating redress on behalf of the Ministry to settle historical Treaty of Waitangi claims, respond to contemporary Treaty of Waitangi claims, and provide advice on post-settlement commitments.
   » Ensures the systems and processes in place within the Ministry to honour and give effect to our Treaty settlement commitments. A key focus is strengthening the Ministry’s knowledge of Treaty settlement commitments and coordinating implementation of the Ministry’s agreements and commitments with post-settlement iwi.
   » Alongside iwi/M?ori, works closely with Crown agencies, including DOC, Te Arawhiti and local authorities to safeguard the durcapability of historical Treaty settlements.

Our ideal candidate will bring:
   » prosperous practice of leading and coaching teams (ideally some practice in managing staff working remotely);
   » Superior communication, networking and stakeholder engagement expertise - to effectively lead cross-agency and external partner collaboration;
   » practice with Crown-M?ori policy perspectives and frameworks;
   » consciousness of Treaty settlement policy and legislative framework;
   » Knowledge of tikanga M?ori and an knowledge of issues facing iwi/M?ori;
   » Strong political acumen - a high level of knowledge of and practice in navigating Machinery of Government processes; and
   » knowledge of Treaty jurisprudence and Waitangi Tribunal findings and recommendations regarding Treaty principles within the environmental management system.
Wh?nuitanga Utu ?-Tau | income Range
income range for this function is from $155,491 up to $190,044 pa. Appointment within this range will be located on expertise and practice.
