Job Opportunity: Teaching Fellow – M?ori:HainesAttractJob description:Job DescriptionHIGHER EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (HEDC)The Higher Education Development Centre (HEDC) is an academic department that provides academic development to the University by contributing to the development of University policy on teaching and learning, as well as offering academic support and advice to staff and students. HEDC works in partnership with staff and students to advance, preserve and promote the ideals, expertise and values of higher education. We are committed to working closely with iwi and M?ori organisations, and m?tauraka M?ori has become an integral part of teaching and research across the institution. We especially value our relationship with Ngai Tahu, the mana whenua within their takiw? of Te Waipounamu, and the University’s principal Treaty partner. Te mahi – The function We are seeking for a Teaching Fellow to support the delivery of professional development courses aimed at enhancing academic pedagogy and practices related to staff and students in tertiary settings. In this function, you will contribute to teaching on culturally responsive practice under the supervision of an academic colleague. Key tasks for this function will include teaching preparation, running tutorials, workshops and assessments related to the implementation of the University M?ori Strategic Framework. K? p?keka me k? wheako – Your expertise and practice The prosperous applicant will have expertise and practice of teaching and student learning at tertiary level as well as: » a Bachelor’s degree (a PhD would be an advantage) » a high degree of competency in Te Reo M?ori and Tikanga M?ori » expertise and practice of teaching and student learning at the university level » aptitude for effective teaching at the tertiary level » demonstrate cultural intelligence and collegiality » a proven capability to work with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds, from all departments and divisions, and at all levels of the institution » excellent written and verbal communication expertise P?roko – Further details This is a part-time (0.4 FTE), permanent position available from July 2023.
