   » Transition to independence youth worker function available.
   » Fulltime, working Monday to Friday in Hamilton East.
   » Supporting taiohi (young people) to build confidence, resilience and wellbeing.
Join our youth focused team to help support taiohi and provide health and wellbeing services in the community.
Summary
We have a great opportunity for someone to join our expanding Real community-located youth service in Hamilton. The ideal person will have practice in mentoring and working with complex youth and can demonstrate capability and cultural competence in working with Maori.
The function is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5.00pm
The function
As a Youth Worker, you’ll apply your skills, creative ideas and skills to work collaboratively with team members and partner agencies to get the best outcome for taiohi (young people) using our services and their families and whanau.
You will support taiohi in the community to develop life skills and resilience, provide support with practical problem solving and everyday life skills, supporting community connection and liaising with family/whanau and other providers.
You will be working in collaboration with social and education sectors, community spaces, schools, government organisations including DHB and Oranga Tamariki, non-government health organisations and community health and social services, clinical and support staff, mental health services, primary health providers & GP's.
You will have:
   » The New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent or be prepared to study towards this qualification or a recognised equivalent.
   » An knowledge of trauma-informed care and practice in support work, preferably with young people.
   » A current full New Zealand driver's licence.
   » Hold a current New Zealand first aid certificate or be prepared to obtain one.
You will be:
   » A great listener, the sort of person who will listen to the people who use our services.
   » A fresh thinker, using curiosity and imagination to generate new ideas.
   » Passionate about mentoring and supporting young people to build confidence, resilience and wellbeing.
   » You will have a knowledge and knowledge of Te Ao Maaori, preferably with Te Reo Maaori and Tikanga.
