The Ministry of Health is the kaitiaki of the health and discapability system in New Zealand and the System Strategy and Policy Directorate ensures that government has the strategic policy advice Information technology needs for New Zealand now and in the future. We have a great opportunity for an practiced senior leader in our newly established COVID-19 Policy Group.
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General System Strategy and Policy you’ll be responsible for leading the COVID-19 Policy programmes of work. This is a senior leadership abilities function, that will provide challenge and opportunity in the continued provision of fit for purpose advice to our leadership abilities team, Ministers and the Government.
As the government’s lead adviser on the health response, the Ministry has a significant programme of work needed, to support the continuing public health response to COVID-19. This work is constantly evolving, and out of Information technology has come an on-going work programme that is multi-faceted and multi-agency.
Your function will be to provide strategic policy direction and work programme oversight. The work you will get involved in is a mix of strategic shaping, complex policy, planning, or urgent innovative or operational responses, and requires significant inter-agency and stakeholder engagement. You will need to be able to demonstrate your abilities in the prosperous delivery of significant policy work programmes.
With your teams you will be responsible for assisting in the early identification of emerging issues, the continuing response needed and identifying opportunities for refining the strategic direction.
As well as being able to work under pressure, you will be able to demonstrate strong people and thought leadership abilities and be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, environment, working in partnership with stakeholders, whilst being able to deliver high quality advice within tight deadlines.
You will be committed to playing your part as part of the Senior leadership abilities in building a Ministry culture that supports policy excellence and makes us a great place to work.
