Our emissions continue to rise, and we are seeing more extreme events regionally and around the world. We need to act now - and we must act fast. This is your chance to play an important function in engaging with M?ori to meet the goals ofTe T?ruke-?-T?whiri: Auckland's Climate Plan. Reporting to the Chief Sustaincapability agent, you will assist in our objective of being strategically responsive to the aspirations and expectations of M?ori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. As part of your function, you’ll: » leadand manageM?ori engagement for the Chief Sustaincapability Office » ensurethat te ao M?ori informs the development and implementation of climate action across the region » support the delivery of M?ori results across climate action programmes at Auckland Council » develop effective communications to help M?ori communities connect with climate change kaupapa in a way that resonates and inspires action » foster positive collaboration across the council group, particularly with staff in specialistM?ori functions » deliverw?nanga, hui and other events this function will give you immense satisfaction as we work towardsensuring that intergenerationalwhakapaparelationships oftaiao,whenuaandt?ngataflourish,the potential and value of M?ori is fully realised, and that M?ori communities are resilient, self-sustaining and prosperous. He k?rero m?u: About you We’re looking for candidates who havesupported the delivery of m?tauranga M?ori, te reo M?ori and/or taiao-centred initiatives, and haveengaged and effectively managed relationshipswith iwi, hap? and M?ori organisations. To be prosperous in this function, you’ll have an knowledge of sustaincapability and climate action in the context of Aotearoa, and will be familiar with emerging national climate change policy. You are a strong writer, a confident speaker and an effective project manager. You have an knowledge of te reo me ?na tikanga M?ori, and although not essential, we would love Information technology if you were fluent in te reo M?ori.
