POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position: Marketing Coordinator
Hours: 30 hours/week - Flexible
Reports to: Station Manager
Team: Programming andOutreach Coordinator, Head Technician andTechnician
Wages: $30.00/hour

Primary Purpose
To raise the profile of Wellington Access Radio through marketing, communication and promotion.

About the Station
Wellington Access Radio is the station that's by, for, and about our community. ?We're a non-profit, grassroots charity which celebrates the diversity of Wellington.
We provide a platform of representation for groups not usually heard in mainstream media, alongside arts, music and local culture.
?located on Ghuznee Street in P?neke Wellington, the station broadcasts to Wellington, Porirua, and the Hutt Valley on 106.1FM and provides a digital live stream and podcasts at www.accessradio.org.nz
Wellington Access Radio is a member of the Community Access Media Alliance - www.cama.nz
Programming features local arts, culture, NZ music, and content that provides for the interests of women, students, youth, LGBTQIA+ communities, people with disabilities, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. We broadcast in 22 languages with volunteer programme makers from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds.
The function of Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator offers a rare opportunity to contribute to and promote cultural and social diversity and representation.

About the function
This new function has been established to assist Wellington Access Radio inform potential listeners, funders and programme-makers about the work we do to support groups not usually heard in mainstream media make radio.
We want to work with Somebody with marketing, communications and promotion ideas and practice to help us:
   » Improve our communication with current and potential listeners, funders and programme-makers
   » Under-take initial and continuing evaluations of who we are reaching, who we could be reaching and our messaging to these audiences
   » Write and implement a marketing and communications strategy
   » Refresh the templates for our Weebly website
   » Pay greater attention to accessibility for our social media and online communications
   » Increase the impact of our social media presence
   » Organise events
   » Conduct an inaugural survey of programme-makers and listeners
You will be part of a small talented team of technical, programming, community engagement, and accounts staff along with some 300 volunteer programme-makers.

Who We are seeking For
practice in a similar function would be an advantage, however interest in the access media sector and a availability to lgain and grow in the function will be taken into consideration while hiring for this position.
Essential:
   » Excellent communication and problem-solving expertise
   » An capability to communicate effectively and sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds, ages, and abilities
   » Proven capability to work cooperatively and constructively as part of a team
   » A passion for and knowledge of public service and community broadcasting
   » An appreciation for the need for diverse representation in media
Preferred:
   » practice working in the charity, non-profit, or community sectors
   » practice in marketing and communication including social media, newsletters, media releases and branding
   » practice networking at a local community level
   » A background in media
