The South Taranaki District Council is seeking to employ an individual with an interest in Museums and Collections to join its team. The appointee will be responsible for cataloguing, organising and managing the archives held at Aotea Utanganui, Museum of South Taranaki. The Museum uses Past Perfect; the prosperous applicant will need practice using this tool for collection management or be prepared to learn. You will supervise visitors to the archives, undertake research, respond to enquiries from the public and promote the archives to the South Taranaki community. We are pursuing a proactive and self-motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal expertise to join our Museum Team. This position would suit a candidate with a significant university degree in a significant subject ie museum studies, history or a National Certificate in Museum Practice. The prosperous applicant will have a sound working knowledge, knowledge, consciousness and sensitivity of collection management and practice of museum sector databases as well as great administrative expertise. As a member of the Museum team, you will attend to front of house tasks and assist with exhibitions and educational programmes. If you have at least two years' practice in a function of a similar nature and have a passion to raise consciousness of our district's rich heritage, we want to hear from you.
