Gallery adjunct/Front of House:Job description:Job detailsOrganisation Tim Melville Gallery Closes 18 Feb 2023 Posted on 10 Feb 2023 Region Auckland Work type Part time employment Work classification Culture & Heritage, Management & Admin ShareDue to unforeseen circumstances Tim Melville is starting the year looking for an adjunct to be a friendly and welcoming face for our front of house, as well as to manage the Gallery's stockroom and administration. The position is demanding, but is multi-faceted and very compensateing for someone starting a career in the art world. Alongside the everyday face-to-face and email interactions with clients and collectors the job entails website management, artwork cataloguing, stockroom organisation and social media. You will meet and work with a wide variety of artists at different stages of their careers, while your knowledge of NZ, M?ori, Pacific and Aboriginal art will be deepened and broadened. At the same time you will build invaluable connections with art professionals including writers, curators, consultants and public gallery Directors. Your expertise should include: » A strong eye for detail. » A working knowledge of contemporary New Zealand and International art and some knowledge of Te Ao Maori. » Excellent written and oral communication. The capability to comfortably work alone. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe packages and Photoshop. Depending on the exhibition programme some flexibility could be required in terms of hours and days worked, but the job will entail no less than 30 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday. Previous arts sector and/or gallery practice is ideal. Previous customer service practice is essential. Starting March 2023.
