Therefore McLeods have come to the decision to hire somebody new?McLeods Booksellers Ltd is hiring a new part-time (30 hours a week) Media, Communications and Retail adjunct to assist with the online marketing and social media accounts of Rotorua's iconic bookshop, as well as handling inwards goods and other tasks around the store. McLeods Booksellers is an almost 80 year-old family-owned business in the heart of Rotorua who pride themselves on quality, personal customer service and we want to translate the practice customers have inside our physical shop to our online presence. The ideal candidate for this function is book-loving, creative, motivated and tech-savvy, with a broad expertise of social media marketing techniques as well as canva and the adobe creative suite. Excellent communication both written and verbal is essential, with some expertise of the local community as well as the broader literary scene in Aotearoa and around the world. expertise of te reo M?ori is a plus! Our bookshop is renowned for its M?ori book range, both nationally and internationally. As a small, independent bookshop, we invest in the reading lives of our customers and trade on our reputation for exemplary customer service, which means retail and customer service practice are essential and bookselling practice preferred. No one day is the same at McLeods, therefore any candidate must be adaptable, comfortable working independently and dividing up their time effectively. A lot of initiative and a self-directed attitude is important! Half of the function is creative, making and implementing social media strategies, and creating social media content for Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok designed to drive customers to McLeods both online and in person. The other half of the job is a more hands-on function in the shop, unpacking and sorting inwards goods as well as working on the shop floor, interacting with customers, hand-selling and recommending books. this function provides a great deal of freedom, and the management always welcomes new ideas and creative expression as long as they align with the values and character of the business. The candidate must be able to work weekends and school holidays, full shop and inwards goods training will be provided.
