Job Description

The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand (MHF) is a charity that works towards creating a society free from discrimination, where all people enjoy positive mental health & wellbeing.
The MHF is launching an exciting new fundraising strategy and we need a talented communications specialist to effectively tell the story of the need and impact of our mahi and grow our wh?nau of supporters.
This creative function will see you craft the copy and visual elements of many of the MHF's fundraising strategies including campaign-located initiatives such as Pink Shirt Day and Mental Health consciousness Week, inspiring and motivating fundraisers who are passionate about our kaupapa of improving mental health for everyone in Aotearoa.
You will be an integral part of both the Fundraising and the Communications & Marketing teams, and work collaboratively across all our other teams including M?ori Engagement, Policy & Advocacy, and Research & Information Service.
You will also work with external partners, including design agencies and contractors, corporate partners, and our fundraisers for the purpose of storytelling and asset development. Social media will be a core focus of your function, and you will have skills in digital marketing and using platforms such as Canva to curate creative and engaging content, as well as moderate our social media channels with the view to building relationships amongst our wh?nau of supporters.
We need someone who can identify and tell an engaging story, with the view to increasing donations. Underlying all of our communications, including fundraising, is a health promotion strategy which aims to prevent suicide, eradicate stigma and discrimination and improve the positive mental health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders.
practice in fundraiser and donor acquisition and stewardship is beneficial, but not essential. Most important are communications skills, a great attitude, and a maturity to understand the practices of people from a wide variety of cultures/ethnicities and life practices.
You will have:
   » 2+ years' practice in a communications or marketing function
   » Communication practitioner skills including writing, interviewing, proof-reading
   » practice in social media content generation and scheduling
   » capability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks

This is a new function and sits within the Mental Health Foundation's Communications & Marketing Team and reports to the Communications and Marketing Team Lead, Fundraising.
The income for this function is $67,000 – $77,000 and will be commensurate to the prosperous candidate’s skills and practice for the function.
