This will run two weeks over Matariki 2023 in conjunction with Te Matatiki Toi Ora Matariki Festival, from the 3 July to the 16July. The curatorial theme is a focus on storytelling and navigating time, embracing the philosophy of the past and present unfolding in front of us, walking backwards into the unknown future. ?Ka Mua, Ka Muri? With the foundation of a tuakana/teina relationship, you will have the opportunity to exhibit alongside established M?ori artists who will show works from pivotal moments in their past. These will be in conversation with your works from the present, responding to the changing times and how you relate to the world around you today. This is a broad theme and open to individual interpretation - we are interested in your unique view and voice. Artist's work may be for sale during the exhibition, Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre will take a commission of 20%. We care for our heritage buildings as a place where creative endeavour and entrepreneurship can thrive.
