About the function – Atu mo te mahi
The National Bowel Screening Programme Service Coordinator provides accurate and reliable advice to participants, respecting the background and cultural needs of those who contact the service and accurately enters information into the national database. This entails making calls to people (population aged between 60-74 and their family/whanau) to encourage them to participate in the National Bowel Screening Programme (NBSP). The function has a big emphasis connecting with Maori, Pacific and people who are not engaged with the programme to encourage and support them to participate.
Key Job responsibilities:
   » Encourage screening programme participation in a culturally appropriate way across the population, with a particular focus on M?ori and Pacific
   » Respectfully respond to outbound communications relating to participation within the NBSP
   » Confidentiality and cultural sensitivity and taking pride in every call
   » Recognise and report when they see a participant not progressing through the screening pathway as expected
   » Engage as required with stakeholders including GPs and other health services to update participant details and to support participants progress through the screening pathway

   » Well-developed interpersonal expertise, with the capability to build rapport quickly with a wide cross section of the community and health sector
   » Organised and methodical approach to work, including the capability to input information accurately and objectively into a database while making outbound calls

   » Work well as part of a team and autonomously to get things done
