About the function
The Database Management group is responsible for the operational support of the Ministry's Oracle database environment which consists of more than 100 distinct production databases and 300 non production databases.
The focus of the team is to ensure the integrity of the data stored in MSD’s production systems, as well as providing maximum availcapability to the business users. In order to do this you will engage in proactive monitoring of all database systems and work in Multi-Disciplined teams to ensure releases into our critical production environments are prosperous
Skills and practice
Drawing on your technical skills you will have strong communication skills, written and verbal and capability to work within a multi-platform integrated environment. The capability to work under pressure and manage difficult situations is highly regarded.
The prosperous person will have the following attributes:
   » Specialist background as an Oracle Database Administrator, with over 3 years operational practice
   » practice with SQL, PL/SQL & RDBMS technology
   » knowledge of database design concepts
   » Able to assist in resolving production database related incidents
   » knowledge emerging technologies and related technologies within Database and Oracle Application server related Infrastructure.
   » practice working within an Agile environment
This is a hands-on technical function working in a 24×7 environment. The function includes an on-call roster and scheduled out of hours work
