About our group and team
Our aim is to put children and young people at the heart of the education system and encourage all New Zealanders to participate in lifelong learning. The Sector Enablement and Support Group is the key interface between the Ministry and early learning schools and kura services me ng? k?hanga reo, education providers, and communities.
About this function
this function will be in place for 18 months to lead the national review of supports for children and young people with the highest levels of learning support need, commissioned through the Learning Support Action Plan 2019-2025. The purpose of the review is to ensure we provide the right supports for children and young people into the future to have positive education results and achieve their full potential.
this function will engage with a diverse group of provider and stakeholder perspectives on what the problems are in our current system of support, envisioning the desired state, and how to close the gap.
An early task will be to develop Terms of Reference for this review through a thorough process of stakeholder engagement and discussion. As the work proceeds, this function will be working broadly across the sector and with stakeholders on knowledge specific issues and developing solutions.
The Manager will lead the review with the support of a dedicated team of project and advisory professionals.
About you
To be prosperous in the function, you’ll be working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, developing relationships at senior levels. You’ll be communicating your ideas through high quality communications orally and in written form. We’ll count on you to shape, frame and design our process and thinking using a diverse and inclusive approach.
You will also offer:
   » teaching or other education system practice
   » sound knowledge of the purpose and current provision of learning support services and supports across a range of needs and settings
   » the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
