The M?ori Data Capcapability team supports the Te Ao M?ori data capcapability of government and the data capacity and capcapability of iwi and M?ori organisations.
M? te t?nga | The function
In this function you will take leadership abilities in supporting and building the data capacity and capcapability of iwi through mahi tahi/working together in agreed joint work programmes, as well as looking for opportunities to develop capacity and capcapability at scale. Your technical leadership abilities and capability to broker access to resources/bring together others as needed will ensure we are able to deliver the benefits iwi need.
The M?ori Data Capcapability team will coordinate the work programme closely with the Te Tohu Rautaki, Angitu M?ori – Partnerships and Engagement team which supervises our Crown-M?ori relations. We will work in a way that honours our Te Tiriti commitments, doing what is needed to support the data capacity and capcapability of iwi.
Work will range from leading, participating in and designing w?nanga and workshops, engaging through co-design, developing frameworks, designing and delivering training, and exhibiting a solid knowledge of the data lifecycle and related governance and ethics. The function will also engage across government to ensure we are coordinating how the government data system responds to the data and data capcapability needs of iwi.
You will be joining a new team in a new work programme and therefore your function will be varied, being adaptable is important.
this function is ideally located in Wellington but other options may be considered.
Starting income: $110,614 – 130,134

Knowledge and practice ofworking in or withTeAoM?oriis highly desirable. What is essential is your ng?kau m?haki, capability to listen with true openness, learn, receive feedback, consider opposing views and to be comfortableand able to workin situations where the process isn’t pre-defined or clear to begin with.
We’re looking for someone who:
   » Wishes to support iwi aspirations, and values the benefits and opportunities that emerge from working together on iwi kaupapa.
   » Has an open and fresh approach, inclusive and collaborative style with a strong focus on delivery and realising benefits.
   » Can effectively manage a varied work programme involving multiple partners and stakeholders.
   » Is highly-skilled building and working on strong, enduring relationships.
   » Has practice in coordinating multi-partner action.
   » Has demonstrated practice in operational policy, e.g. writing guidance and support materials – how to turn ideas into action.
   » practice in delivering workshops and designing/delivering training is highly desirable.
   » Has knowledge of, and/or a clear demonstrable commitment to continue to lgain about and understand Te Ao M?ori (including tikanga, m?tauranga and reo M?ori), in order to contribute significant work and results for iwi and M?ori communities, and deliver on our Tiriti responsibilities.
