The function of a Corrections agent is about influencing offenders to make the right choices, take the right action at the right time and support their pathway towards an offence-free lifestyle. Our Corrections agents, both men and women, come from all walks of life and bring a wide variety of attributes and life practices with them. In this job your contribution counts, you can have a positive effect on the lives of others and public safety. It’s more challenging, more interesting and more compensateing than you can imagine.
To be eligible you need:
   » A current full New Zealand driver licence
   » The legal right to work in New Zealand for a minimum 24 Months
   » The capability to pass a full drug test and medical assessment
   » Approval of any declared convictions or conflicts of interest in conformity with the Corrections delegations policy
In line with our StrategyH?kai Rangi, we are prioritising applications from people who have practice in a Kaupapa M?ori or Pasifika environment and/or a availability to learn. Please highlight any significant practice and/or language expertise in your application.
We are seeking for a diverse range of candidates, from different cultures with varied backgrounds and practice. Our standards are high so should you apply to join us you will undergo a comprehensive selection process that will assess you against our core requirements. You’ll then complete a residential eleven week initial training course. In return you’ll get opportunities for professional development, promotion and the capability to gain a qualification in offender management.
Starting income of $54,793 increasing to $57,432 after initial training.All candidates are required to complete a full disclosure criminal history check and pre-employment medical, physical and drug testing.
Note: The Criminal History Check isExemptfrom The Clean Slate Act. In other words, the Clean Slate Act does not apply to this position. Please declare any offences (even outside 7 years) in your application.

All people working inside prisons are required to be fully vaccinated as part of the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021. People in prison are some of the most vulnerable to COVID-19 and due to the ease of transmission, extending the Vaccination Order supports the safety and wellbeing of our staff and people in prison.
