The T?wharetoa M?ori Trust Board (TMTB) was established to administer assets for the benefit of both the present and the future generations of Ng?ti T?wharetoa. The Trust is committed to maintaining and enhancing the health and wellbeing of Taup? Waters, and enabling Ng?ti T?wharetoa to achieve social, cultural, environmental, and economic goals and aspirations.
The T?wharetoa Settlement Trust (TST) is a post settlement governance entity established to receive the Treaty of Waitangi settlement redress provided to Ng?ti T?wharetoa (the CNI Forests Redress ) pursuant to the Deed of Settlement between the Central North Island Forests Iwi Collective and the Crown dated 25 June 2008 (the CNI Forests Settlement ).
The Ngati Tuwharetoa Fisheries Charitable Trust (NTFCT) is the mandated iwi Organisation of Ngati Tuwharetoa for the purposes of the Maori Fisheries Act 2004 and to act as the Iwi Aquaculture Organisation for the purpose of the Maori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Act 2004.
Te ?hua o Te T?runga - The nature of the position
The overarching purpose of the Communications Manager is to ensure the coordinated and integrated delivery of all marketing, communications, event strategies across the Trusts businesses. Reporting directly to TMTB who will manage the work programme. Assistance will be provided to TST and NTFT as agreed. Developing, and implementing an integrated communications plan and strategy, will see you in a pivotal position to deliver on the overall delivery of the organisation's strategic plans. Leading, facilitating, and coordinating, you will ensure the effective monitoring, analysis, and regular reporting is delivered, by the provision of pro-active communication, media advice and support to the CEO and Senior leadership abilities team.
Utilising multimedia platforms, including social media and the website, to uplift brand and promote key communications, you will take a key function of positioning this innovative organisation. Taking a risk-located approach, you will constantly monitor internally and externally, managing media inquiries and advise the CEO on management of issues, drafting and distributing press releases, as well as providing quality research and speech writing to the CEO, and as required members of the Strategic leadership abilities Team. Working under the remit of a culture of ?no surprises,' you will anticipate and mitigate risk by covering any issues proactively, providing accurate advice on mitigations and responses, supported by a skill set which enables comprehension and dissemination of information from a range of sources whilst maintaining confidentiality and exercising diplomacy.
Identifying and developing story and content ideas for Te K?tuku, website, Facebook and Annual Reports, you will be responsible for managing the editing, proofing, and publishing. Creating dynamic content, which is aligned to key strategic objectives, you will be assured, all content demonstrates the depth and success of the Board's mahi. You will adopt a collaborative approach to achieve the delivery of results and provide strategic communications advice and support to the CEO for special projects as required.
As part of the Senior Executive Team, and reporting to the Chief Executive agent (CEO) you will support and develop a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, keeping across industry trends, and on a personal level, you are able to identify with and model the Trusts' organisational value.
Taking a hands-on leadership abilities function in the development of your people, you will have the skill set to bring people, and the organisation on a journey with you, enabling success and keeping connection to the organisational strategy and its operational deliverables.
Ng? tino P?kenga/Wheako - Essential expertise/practices for the function
A tertiary qualification in a significant discipline such as Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Journalism is preferred however, this may be offset by comprehensive, and in-depth practice.
An knowledge of Ng?ti T?wharetoa tikanga, kaitiakitanga, m?tauranga M?ori and its relationship to project design and implementation is prerequisite to application.
   » Knowledge of Te Reo M?ori me ?na tikanga, supported by evidence of working within Te Ao M?ori.
   » broad management practice in a complex organisation within the public relations, communications, or marketing field.
   » A depth of knowledge across the NZ media industry, and the capability and desire to further develop and maintain a strong professional working industry relationship.
   » Demonstrated capability to develop, implement and review effective media management and communication strategies.
   » Past success in projects and knowledge of project management methodologies, milestone reporting and project costings, supported by practice in managing contractors and budgets.
   » Excellent facilitation expertise and the capcapability to bring people together, the capability to influence, persuade and inspire others to achieve desired results.
   » Be known as a leader who has a style that brings parties together, connecting, building, and unifying others.
   » The practice to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders through advocacy, negotiation, and collaboration.
   » The skill set to write and communicate fluently and persuasively in a range of styles and formats, and the capability to simplify complex documents in a manner that enables ease of knowledge and communication to a wide variety of audiences.
   » Produce the Annual Report for TMTB & TST and provide support for AGM & Annual Hui.
   » practice drafting and delivering large and complex projects and documents over short timelines.
   » Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Office, and PowerPoint.
