Job Opportunity: Design and Logistics Lead:Job description:Job detailsOrganisation Hamilton City Council Closes 21 Mar 2022 Posted on 8 Mar 2022 Region Waikato Work type Full time employment Work classification Community & Access Arts, Design ShareSince opening in its current building in 1987 Waikato Museum has brought together exhibitions, events and programmes to tell our stories from a regional and global perspective, and include visual art, social history, tangata whenua and science from touring exhibitions, and the museum's own collections on the banks of the mighty Waikato River.Waikato Museum's 13 galleries featuremore than 25 new exhibitions and 100 public events annually. Through this interactive programme we aim to engage and inspire our local and international visitors. We are pursuing a new talent with the knack for bringing together materials and spatial elements to execute bold designs for exhibitions located on the concept plan and documentation developed by the Curatorial team. Given the interdependencies betweenvarious members of the Collections Team and Exhibitionsteam (and ultimately the Visitor practice Team), each exhibitionwill be managed as a project with assigned responsibilitiesand milestones. You will supervise and provide logistical coordination to the incoming exhibitions. Your innovation, self-motivation and energy will see you hit the ground running in this challenging and demanding function, and your capability to juggle multiple demands both on time and on budget will be key to your success. To be prosperous in this function you will have: » A significant degree in Design/Museum Studies/Fine Art » Strong proven project management practice » Significant design practice, preferably in a museum or gallery context » Be aware of new interactive technology and trends » Proven leadership abilities expertise with demonstrated capability to articulate the design vision and take people on the journey As the Museum operates 7 days per week, 364 days per year you will need to be visible, flexible, and available to your team.
